Core Program 1 - Dance & Movement

Dance for Foundation to Year 2 students

Our Dance & Movement program uses modern dance styles for children and is created to allow optimal expression and successful confidence building. Builds responsiveness to stimuli and allows for self-expression.

Through teamwork, focus, and improvisational skills, our Dance & Movement program takes into account movement sequencing and allow students the opportunity to move freely and in a fun and supportive environment.

Proactivity Dance & Movement Programs align with the Victorian Curriculum.

Dance & Movement Program Overview

Skill development and movement challenges is a key pillar of this Dance & Movement program using dance fundamentals from children-friendly street, hip-hop and cultural dance styles.

Providing students, the opportunity to link movements together, in a safe and inclusive environment. Allows for numerous fundamental motor skills to be built, refined and developed.

Curriculum Outcomes

Ensure your curriculum program meets achievement outcomes by including a progressive and engaging dance and movement program.

  • Coorperate with others when participating in physical activities (VCHPEM068)
  • Practise fundamental movement skills and movement sequences using different body parts and in response to stimuli in indoor, outdoor and aquatic settings (VCHPEM064)
  • Participate in games with and without equipment (VCHPEM065)

Use choreographic devices to select and organise movement ideas and create and practise dance sequences.

Use simple technical and expressive skills when presenting dance that communicates ideas about themselves and their world to an audience.

Respond to dance, expressing what they enjoy, and where and why people in their local area dance.
