Self Defence in schools

Real Skills. Real Confidence.

self defence Programs for Secondary School students

Our Self Defence program incorporates a range of fundamental motor skill development in the areas of karate and martial arts.

A key component of any successful PE program is respectful relationships and interpersonal skills. Our Self Defence and Respectful Relationships workshops are designed around protection skills, safe and unsafe behaviours.

Proactivity Self Defence Programs align with the Victorian Curriculum.

Self Defence Program Overview

At Proactivity, we believe safety is a vital life skill. Our Self Defence incursions provide students with a physical and mental toolkit, drawn from a combination of diverse martial arts disciplines, paired with engaging coordination games to build strength and focus.

While our core themes of situational awareness and personal safety are present across all year levels, we scale the delivery and complexity to suit each stage, from Year 7 foundations to Year 12 strategic application, ensuring all sessions meet the Victorian Curriculum health and wellbeing objectives.

No matter the year level, our Self Defence incursions are designed to provide a comprehensive experience:

  • Physical Component: Running through techniques including blocking, striking, and controlling skills.
  • Verbal Component: Practical tips on de-escalation, managing social environments, online safety, and physical presence.
  • Awareness Component: Interactive scenarios that build curiosity and critical thinking.

Tailored Programs for Every Secondary Level

We understand that secondary students have unique needs as they mature. Our program adapts the complexity and focus based on the cohort’s developmental stage.

Ensure your curriculum program meets achievement outcomes by including a progressive and engaging Self Defence program.
